About Allie

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black with White
  • Housetrained: Yes

Allie is a spunky little girl with lots of energy or she can just be the sweetest most laid back Lady to rest by your bed or couch to watch TV. She crates beautifully but currently has free reign of her foster home as she is house trained and has not been destructive. Allie does enjoy settling down with approved toys such as Nylbones and Kongs. She is a pretty independent girl and doesn't snuggle or cuddle but will roll over for a good belly rub.

Allie is a door-rusher and will try to sneak out when you leave. She can also open up the back screen door in an attempt to let herself inside when she tires of being outside! She does prefer to just be inside. She has not been caught trying to jump the 6' privacy fence at her foster home but Allie does need hotwire at the bottom of a fence because she can and will dig out. She probably can climb a chain link fence in a minute as well. She does great with both her male and female canine foster sibings but she has a pretty high prey drive so no cats or anything small that moves for this Girl. Allie is a black and white female with blue eyes. She weighs about 50 lbs. and her guestimated DOB is July 2003ish!

Allie is listed as a special needs dog because she had surgery to remove a tumor just behind her front leg in March 2008. The pathology report said apocrine adenocarcinoma-cancer. The tumor was very well encapsulated and easily removed with no metastasizing. Our vet says that it is a cancer that can pop up in 3 months or 3 years and the tumors will need to be removed every time. She has not had any additional tumors pop up over the last year and remains at a good weight and active. Actually, she has a better appetite and weight now than she did prior to removing the tumor. I guess no surprise there. Allie is a great girl but will most likely bring on more than "normal" vet bills if and when the tumors show up again.
