SSR is pleased to announce that we are partnering with Nash Correctional Institution and are proudly participating in their 'A New Leash On Life' prison training program. Lucy is one of our foster dogs that completed training and she graduated on August 2, 2008. During her time at Nash, Lucy learned sit, shake with both paws, down and rollover. She had fun with the agility course, which included walking the bench, climbing an A-Frame, jumping through a tire, placing on a pedestal and then doing her sit, shakes and down.

Energy Level: Medium. Lucy has a lot of play in her, but also settles down nicely for quiet time.
Personality: Lucy is a bit timid and sometimes takes a few minutes to warm up to both people and other dogs but once she has had the chance to check you out, she's good. She is full of love and kisses and is not afraid to express both! She absolutely loves to sniff and smell everything, whether she is inside or out. She enjoys hanging around the house chewing on Nylabones but isn't afraid to venture off to a bookshelf and grab a good story to eat!!! She is still young and does do some chewing but not on furniture. She enjoys paper of all kinds.
Good with Dogs: Yes. She will run with a few playing chase but then will venture off by herself to sniff or dig holes in the yard. Her best match will be as an only dog or with another canine sibling.
Good with Cats: Lucy has not been tested with cats but has not displayed a high prey drive either. As a mix, she may do well with cats.
Good with Children: Probably but has not been around them in our program. She may be a bit shy with them and startled by loud noises and general toddler play so children 5 years or older may be better for her.
Housetrained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes. Lucy does have free roam of her foster home but her crate door remains open as she does like to go in for some quality quiet time of her own.
Rides Well in Car: Yes
Leash Trained: Lucy is fantastic on a leash due to her training at Nash Correctional.
Basic Obedience: She knows sit, shake with both paws, down and rollover. Other than sneaking a book or magazine off of a bookshelf, Lucy has great house manners.
